LanTMS v1.1.0: Open Platform APIs for Text and Document Translation

Enterprise translation tasks often originate in content management systems, internal business platforms, or document workflows. Previously, processing this content through LanTMS typically involved exporting files, uploading them for translation, and transferring the results back into the original system. For teams handling large volumes of multilingual content, these steps could add unnecessary manual work.
LanTMS v1.1.0 introduces Open Platform APIs, initially providing a General Text Translation API and a Document Translation API. Businesses can now initiate translation tasks directly from their existing systems while continuing to use terminology databases, bilingual corpora, and other language resources already available in LanTMS. The release also introduces API application management and usage analytics to support centralized administration.
01 | Text Translation API: Flexible Model Selection and Language Resource Integration
The new General Text Translation API makes LanTMS text translation capabilities accessible from existing enterprise systems. It supports multiple translation engines and AI models, optional AI-powered polishing, and integration with existing terminology databases and corpora. Teams can configure translation models and resources based on language pairs, subject areas, and content requirements.
LanMT, one of the core translation engines in LanTMS, has received more than 20 international competition awards. Its achievements include a low-resource language championship at WMT 2022, first place in English-to-Chinese translation, and second place in Chinese-to-English translation at WMT 2023.
With API-based translation, text can move directly from an existing business system into the translation process, reducing repetitive exporting, uploading, and re-entry. Previously established terminology and translation resources remain available, helping teams maintain consistent language usage across different content workflows.

02 | Document Translation API: LanDocs Now Accessible via API
Business documents such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files contain more than text. Tables, paragraphs, and document structures must also be considered during translation to support subsequent editing and use.
LanTMS v1.1.0 makes its LanDocs document translation capabilities available through an API. Businesses can submit document translation tasks directly from their existing systems and select a translation engine according to their requirements.
The Document Translation API also supports existing terminology databases and corpora, along with configurable match-rate parameters. This allows previously translated content and approved terminology to remain part of document translation workflows. For organizations with established document management systems or standardized file processing procedures, translation can be incorporated into existing operations with fewer manual file transfers.

03 | API Management: Applications, Permissions, and Usage Tracking
As more business systems begin using translation APIs, organizations need visibility into which applications are making requests, how many characters are being consumed, and who has permission to manage API access.
LanTMS v1.1.0 introduces API Application Management and API Usage Statistics. Administrators can create and maintain API applications, manage appkey and signkey credentials, and review request counts, character consumption, and usage trends by time period, application, or service.
Usage statistics distinguish between General Text Translation and Document Translation services, with hourly breakdowns and Excel export support for reporting and resource tracking.
The update also provides more granular role permissions for API application management and usage statistics. API calls continue to share the team's character quota with translations performed directly in LanTMS. Administrators can configure balance thresholds and send alerts to designated team members when the remaining character balance falls below the specified level.
04 | Connecting LanTMS with Existing Enterprise Workflows
With v1.1.0, translation tasks that require manual involvement can still be handled within the LanTMS workspace. For organizations with established business systems and repeatable workflows, translation can also be initiated through APIs using LanMT and LanDocs.
Existing terminology databases, corpora, and team character resources remain available across these workflows. API applications, permissions, and usage can continue to be managed centrally within LanTMS.
The release gives businesses an additional way to access LanTMS translation capabilities. Teams can choose between workspace-based translation and API integration based on how their systems and translation processes are organized, while keeping their existing language resources in use.
